In the wake of Crass, the UK birthed a large scene of anarcho-punk bands such as Subhumans, Rudimentary Peni, Flux Of Pink Indians, and, perhaps the best known of all, Amebix. Their seminal Arise album, originally released by Alternative Tentacles in 1985, remains one of the genre’s ultimate statements, featuring elements of Black Sabbath, Motorhead, and Venom infused with a healthy dose of early punk’s gutter grime and Crass’ confrontational imagery.

On Saturday, April 19, 2008, hundreds of independently owned music stores across the country will celebrate “Record Store Day.”

On this day, all of these stores will simultaneously link and act as one with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and nationally.

Out of print on CD for three years and unavailable on vinyl since the 80s, this debut record is back with remarkable extras, including two unreleased studio tracks, a DVD of concert footage at The Space and The Underground in Boston in 1979 and 1980, and a 32-page booklet with interviews and ephemera. Vinyl is true all-analog, HQ-180 pressing and also includes the DVD

The second and final studio album, released in 1982 just months before the band broke up, at the pinnacle of their songwriting and performing skills. Unavailable on CD for three years and out of print on vinyl since the 1980s. Bonus DVD contains the entire afternoon set from the final show in Boston in 1983. Fully re-mastered from the original tapes. 32-page booklet contains ephemera, photos, and interviews. The posthumous live album, originally released in 1984. The vinyl has been unavailable since the 1980s. Re-mastered and restored to its correct sequence with three bonus tracks. 32-page booklet contains ephemera, photos, and interviews. Vinyl is true all-analog, HQ-180 pressing. “Combining rock ‘n’ roll’s traditional fetish for pure, unmediated feeling, with a more modern sort of artistic calculation, Burma’s music could evoke everything from the Beatles’ ecstatic run of Hamburg rock clubs in the early 60s to the lightning-speed hardcore punk that was developing in the US during Burma’s tenure. In this sense, Burma can be said to have blithely encapsulated punk’s overarching mission: to draw a line connecting rock rebels past and present, and, in doing so, re-imagine and re-establish the music’s anarchic condition” - Salon.com.
